Ingredients:

For the Cake:

• 1 store-bought or homemade angel food cake

• 1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced

• 2 tbsp sugar (optional, for macerating strawberries)

• 1 cup heavy whipping cream

• 2 tbsp powdered sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Strawberry Sauce (Optional):

• 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

• 2 tbsp sugar

• 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Strawberries:

• In a bowl, mix sliced strawberries with 2 tbsp sugar (if using). Let sit for 15-20 minutes to release juices.

2. Make the Whipped Cream:

• In a chilled mixing bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

3. Prepare the Strawberry Sauce (Optional):

• In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice over medium heat. Cook until berries break down, about 5 minutes.

• Mash with a fork or blend for a smoother sauce. Let cool.

4. Assemble the Cake:

• Slice the angel food cake into layers (optional) and spread a layer of whipped cream and strawberries between each.

• Top with more whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and drizzle with strawberry sauce if using.

5. Chill & Serve:

• Let the cake sit for 15-30 minutes before serving for the flavors to meld. Slice and enjoy!
