Sautéed Mushroom and Broccoli Stir-Fry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or sesame oil for more flavor)
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or shiitake mushrooms work well)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger, grated (optional for extra flavor)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for extra umami)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional for added flavor)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 green onion, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vegetables:
    • Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
    • Slice the mushrooms and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Vegetables:
    • Heat olive oil (or sesame oil) in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until they are bright green and slightly tender but still crisp.
    • Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and continue to sauté for another 5-7 minutes, until the mushrooms release their moisture and begin to brown.
  3. Add Garlic and Ginger:
    • Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger (if using). Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
  4. Season the Stir-Fry:
    • Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Stir everything together to coat the vegetables evenly in the sauce.
    • Add crushed red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
