Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) gently.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked — that’s perfect!
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
