King’s Hawaiian Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread crumbs (optional, for added flavor)

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
  • In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until the yeast is frothy.
  1. Prepare the Dough:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, warm milk, salt, and eggs. Mix well. Add the activated yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the flour and King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread crumbs (if using), mixing until a soft dough forms. You may need to adjust the amount of flour slightly.
  1. Knead the Dough:
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  1. Prepare the Filling:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  1. Roll Out the Dough:
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  1. Add the Filling:
  • Spread the cinnamon-sugar filling evenly over the surface of the dough.
  1. Roll and Cut:
  • Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12-15 equal slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  1. Arrange the Rolls:
  • Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
  1. Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  1. Bake the Rolls:
    • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Prepare the Glaze:
    • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
  3. Glaze the Rolls:
    • Once the rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the King’s Hawaiian Cinnamon Rolls warm and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For an extra touch of sweetness and flavor, you can add a cream cheese frosting instead of the glaze. Simply mix 4 oz of softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup softened butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
  • These rolls can be made ahead of time and refrigerated overnight after the second rise. Just let them come to room temperature before baking.

Enjoy your delicious and fluffy King’s Hawaiian Cinnamon Rolls!
