Garlic Shrimp Recipe

Garlic Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off, as preferred)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4–6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chicken or seafood stock (or dry white wine)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp
    • Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the Pan
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with the olive oil.
  3. Cook the Garlic
    • Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the pan. Sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Cook the Shrimp
    • Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  5. Make the Sauce
    • Add the stock (or wine) and lemon juice to the skillet, scraping up any browned bits. Let the mixture simmer for 1–2 minutes, then stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter.
  6. Combine and Serve
    • Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them in the garlic butter sauce. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  7. Serve
    • Serve hot with crusty bread for dipping, over pasta, or alongside steamed rice and vegetables.

Tips for Success

  • Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor, but frozen shrimp works too; just thaw and pat dry before cooking.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp, as they can become rubbery. They’re done when they turn pink and curl into a “C” shape.
  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the sauce.

This Garlic Shrimp is quick, flavorful, and perfect for a variety of meals. Enjoy!
