Cheesy Stuffed Mozzarella Onion Rings
Crispy, gooey, and absolutely irresistible, these cheesy stuffed mozzarella onion rings take onion rings to a whole new level!
Ingredients:
• 2 large onions, cut into thick rings
• 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into strips
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch!)
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon paprika
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ teaspoon black pepper
• Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Prepare the onion rings: Peel and slice onions into thick rings. Separate them and pair similar-sized rings together.
2. Stuff with mozzarella: Take a smaller onion ring and place it inside a larger one, then fill the gap with mozzarella strips. Press gently to ensure they stick together.
3. Coat the rings:
• Dredge each stuffed ring in flour.
• Dip into beaten eggs.
• Coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
• Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust.
4. Freeze for 15–20 minutes (this helps them hold together while frying).
5. Fry to perfection: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the rings in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.
6. Serve hot with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dip.
