Ingredients:
For the Pasta:
• 250g elbow macaroni
• Water and salt (for boiling)
For the Cheese Sauce:
• 2 tbsp butter
• 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 2 cups milk (warm)
• 1 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp mustard powder (optional)
• 1/4 tsp paprika
• 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
• 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
For the Topping:
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 2 tbsp butter (melted)
• 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Pasta:
• Boil the macaroni in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Make the Cheese Sauce:
• In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute until it turns slightly golden.
• Slowly add the warm milk and cream, whisking continuously until smooth and thickened.
• Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, mustard powder, and paprika.
• Lower the heat and add the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted.
3. Combine Pasta and Sauce:
• Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
4. Prepare for Baking:
• Transfer the mac and cheese mixture into a buttered baking dish.
• Mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
• Add extra shredded cheese on top for a golden, crispy crust.
