Apple and Cinnamon Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- For the Topping:
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal. - Prepare Apples:
Toss the diced apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon and set them aside. - Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. - Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract. - Combine Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined. Fold in the prepared apple pieces. - Pour and Sprinkle:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle it evenly over the batter. - Bake:
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. - Cool and Serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Optional Tips:
- Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter for added crunch.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
Enjoy this cozy and flavorful treat! 🍎🍰
