Here’s a hearty Savory Cabbage Beef Bake recipe!
Ingredients
For the Beef Mixture:
• 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
• 1 small onion, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juices)
• 1/2 cup tomato sauce
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Cabbage Layer:
• 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
• 1 cup shredded carrots
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
For the Topping:
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella)
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for a crispy top)
• 1 tbsp melted butter (for breadcrumbs)
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
• Set oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the Beef Mixture:
• In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
• Add diced onion and garlic; cook until softened (about 2 minutes).
• Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Prepare the Cabbage:
• In a large bowl, toss chopped cabbage and shredded carrots with salt and garlic powder.
4. Assemble the Bake:
• Grease a 9×13” baking dish.
• Spread half of the cabbage mixture on the bottom.
• Layer the beef mixture on top.
• Add the remaining cabbage mixture.
5. Add Topping:
• Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
• If using, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese.
6. Bake:
• Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
• Remove foil and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Serve & Enjoy!
• Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
