Old Fashioned Goulash

Here’s a classic Old-Fashioned Goulash recipe—hearty, comforting, and full of rich flavors.

Ingredients:

• 1 lb ground beef

• 1 small onion, diced

• 3 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

• 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)

• 1 ½ cups beef broth or water

• 1 ½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)

• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

• 1 tsp soy sauce (optional, for extra depth)

• 1 tsp Italian seasoning

• ½ tsp paprika

• ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

• ¼ tsp black pepper

• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

• 1 bay leaf (optional)

Instructions:

1. Brown the Beef & Onion:

• In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until browned.

• Drain excess fat, if needed.

2. Add Garlic & Seasoning:

• Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

• Add salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.

3. Simmer the Sauce:

• Pour in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (if using), and beef broth.

• Add the bay leaf if using. Stir well and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

4. Cook the Macaroni:

• Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni and cover the pot.

• Simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.

5. Add Cheese (Optional):

• Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.

• Remove the bay leaf before serving.
