Here’s a Patty Melt with Secret Sauce recipe—crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor!

Ingredients:

For the Patties:

• 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

• 1 tsp salt

• ½ tsp black pepper

• ½ tsp garlic powder

• ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Caramelized Onions:

• 1 large onion, thinly sliced

• 1 tbsp unsalted butter

• 1 tbsp olive oil

• ½ tsp salt

• ½ tsp sugar (helps caramelization)

For the Secret Sauce:

• ½ cup mayonnaise

• 2 tbsp ketchup

• 1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)

• 1 tbsp relish (sweet or dill)

• ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

• ½ tsp garlic powder

• ½ tsp paprika

For the Sandwiches:

• 8 slices rye or sourdough bread

• 4 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)

• 8 slices Swiss cheese (or American/cheddar for a twist)

Instructions:

1. Caramelize the Onions

• Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat.

• Add the sliced onions, salt, and sugar.

• Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.

2. Make the Secret Sauce

• Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.

3. Cook the Patties

• Mix ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.

• Divide into 4 oval-shaped patties (similar in size to your bread).

• Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.

4. Assemble the Patty Melts

• Spread secret sauce on one side of each slice of bread.

• Layer cheese, a patty, caramelized onions, and more cheese.

• Top with another slice of bread (sauce side in).

5. Cook the Sandwiches

• Heat a skillet over medium heat.

• Butter the outside of each sandwich.

• Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese melts.
